Jury Still Undecided In XXXTentacion’s Murder Trial, Here’s Why

FLORIDA- Jurors in the trial of three men accused of killing rapper XXXTentacion have failed to reach a verdict again on Tuesday, which the fifth day of deliberations, according to the Miami Herald.

Jurors asked to get copies of text messages from the accused shooter, Michael Boatwright, that were sent and received on June 18, 2018, which is when XXXTentacion was killed, according to the news outlet.

They saw a computer projection of those messages and from Dedrick Williams on Monday after requesting to review them.

Jurors also asked to see a transcript of Williams’ statement he gave to detectives after he was arrested. The detective testified about the statement, but a transcript was never entered as evidence, reports the Miami Herald.

Three men have been charged in the Florida rapper’s death.

Boatwright and Williams, both 26 and Trayvon Newsome, 24, were all charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. They face life sentences if convicted. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.

All three men are being tried together, and jurors have to vote separately on each one.

It’s possible that jurors could convict one or two, acquit or hang on the rest.

A fourth suspect, Robert Allen, 26, testified against the other three men. He plead guilty to second-degree murder last year.

XXXTentacion, 20, was shot and killed before he was robbed of $50,000.
