Jussie Smollett Found Guilty Of Faking Hate Crime Against Himself

CHICAGO- A jury has found former “Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett guilty of faking a hate crime against himself.

The jury, which deliberated for more than nine hours, found Smollett guilty of five of the six charges he was facing.

Smollett faked his attack using politics, the fact he’s a gay man and racism to gain attention because he was upset over his pay at ‘Empire’.

Smollett made the false accusations in Jan. 2019 when he said he was attacked by two men wearing MAGA hats who shouted, “This is MAGA country” at him before he was “attacked”.

Smollett told police that he was assaulted on a dark street by two masked men. According to the actor, his attackers put a noose around his neck and poured chemicals on him as they yelled homophobic and racist slurs.

Police arrested Smollett a month later, accusing him of paying two brothers $3,500 to stage the fake attack and help him get public sympathy and boost his profile as an actor who was on a hit show.

The brothers, Abimbola Osundairo and Olabinjo Osundairo, told authorities that Smollett orchestrated the fake attack, telling them to put a noose around his neck and to rough him up in the view of a surveillance camera, so he could make the video go viral on social media.

Smollett told the jury the brothers are liars, and that he paid them $3,500 for training and nutrition advice.

Special prosecutor Dan Webb told the jury in his closing arguments, “Besides being against the law, it is just plain wrong to outright denigrate something as serious as real hate crime and then make sure it involved words and symbols that have such historical significance in our country.”

Smollett’s defense argued that the brother’s attacked the actor, because he was gay and they didn’t like him.. (I’m sure)

Smollett can face up to three years in prison, but he’ll most likely get off with just probation.
