CHICAGO- Former ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett is suing Chicago, and more people in court documents obtained by The Chicago-Sun Times.
Smollett filed a counterclaim on Tuesday in federal court. According to him, the story that police made to allegedly make him look like he set up his own kidnapping and lied, has harmed him.
The actor says that Chicago police and the Osundairo brothers who claimed his attack was a hoax, caused him mental anguish, humiliation, extreme emotional distress and economic harm.
This counterclaim is in response to the city of Chicago suing the actor back for a re-coupment of $130,000 for the cost of their investigating.
Smollett was charged earlier this year with 16 felony counts in connection to him making a false police report, but then the charges against him were dropped. That caused a lot of controversy, with the police of Chicago appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the decision.
Smollett said he was attacked by two whites males as he was exiting a Subway franchise. He told police that the males who were never caught not only attacked him, but they used homophobic & racial slurs, as they allegedly knew who he was, and poured bleach on him.
