Actor Jussie Smollett from ‘Empire” has finally spoken out after his alleged attack in Chicago.
The actor released a statement to Essence, telling them“Let me start by saying that I’m OK, my body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words.”
Smollett also addressed the fact that people are becoming skeptical about his alleged attack. He told the magazine he’s been “100 percent factual and consistent on every level” with authorities.
“Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.”
Despite what he’s said in his statement, Chicago police say that Smollett, who says he was attacked by two white racist, homophobic and MAGA hat wearing men while he was on the phone with his manager in a Subway restaurant, hasn’t fully cooperated.
Police are saying that both him and his manager have declined to turn their phone over to them, and it’s crucial that they do because Smollett and his manager both said that while they were on the phone, the two men that allegedly beat Smollett yelled “This is a MAGA country” and police need proof of that.
They have searched videos in the vicinity and did find two white males wearing MAGA hats, but there is no video surveillance of Smollett being attacked by them.
