Actor Jussie Smollett has a history of lying to authority.
The ‘Empire’ actor who’s making headlines for possibly staging a fake attack, had a a California misdemeanor complaint against him in in Los Angeles, according to NBC News.
The misdemeanor complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in Sept of 2007, says that when police pulled the actor over on suspicion of driving under the influence, and asked him for his name, he gave them his brothers name Jake Smollett.
He also signed a promise that he would return to court with a false name. He was charged later on with false impersonation, driving without a valid license and driving under the influence.
Chicago police are looking to speak with the actor, who’s kind of been laying low and not cooperating. He said he was attacked in January by two white males, who wore MAGA hats around 2 a.m., that attacked him, poured bleach on him and put a noose around his neck.
Police interviewed two Nigerian brothers, and they told police that they were paid to stage the fake attack, even purchasing plain red hats and a rope at a hardware store. One of the brothers even worked on ‘Empire.’
