NYC – A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was felt in New York City Friday.
The earthquake was centered in Whitehouse, New Jersey, about 45 miles west of New York City, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake’s shaking was felt at 10:23 a.m. and lasted for several seconds.
More than 42 million felt the earthquake, which was the largest in the city to hit in 40 years. The last earthquake was a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in 1984.
