Lawyer Of Young Dolph’s Murder Suspect Asks For Judge To Be Dismissed From Case

A lawyer for Justin Johnson, a murder suspect in Young Dolph’s death, is asking for the judge to be removed from the case.

Justin Johnson’s lawyer has asked to have Judge Lee Coffee to be removed from his client’s case Friday after Johnson, also known as his rap name Straight Drop, released a song from jail and had his phone privileges taken away, reports WHBQ Memphis.

Johnson dropped a song titled “No Statements” from behind bars, which is NOT allowed.

He has only been allowed to call his attorney.

“Obviously it’s a paramount concern for Mr. Johnson that he receives a fair trial in front of an impartial judge,” Johnson’s attorney Luke Evans said, according to the news outlet.

Judge Coffee replied in regard to the song Johnson released, saying “You recorded a record from jail. Don’t know the contents of it. I have not listened to it. I will not listen to it.”

The judge also said that the song raises safety concerns in the jail Johnson is in, and he has already requested to be removed from 201 Poplar due to safety concerns, WHBQ Memphis reports.

Cornelius Smith, who is also charged with murder in Dolph’s death was in court on Friday.

Both suspects have been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy charges.

Johnson is due back in court on Feb. 2.
