Social media influencer Lil Tay is alive, despite reports of her false death and police.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, a statement was posted on Lil Tay’s Instagram, claiming the teen influencer and her older brother had “unexpectedly” died, but there was no cause of death or any further details.
The 14-yer-old influencer told TMZ “I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say,” she said Thursday.
Many, including celebrities, poured their condolences out to Lil Tay, who’s taken a break from social media for a few years now.
Tay says she had a “very traumatizing” 24 hours after being bombarded with endless phone calls from loved ones.
She went to say that her Instagram account was hacked.
“My Instagram account was comprised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not ‘Claire Hope,” according to TMZ.
Police said her and her brother’s “deaths” were under investigation, TMZ reported. It’s unknown how, if authorities never confirmed their deaths.
