MIAMI- Lil Wayne was charged on Tuesday with possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.
This charge stems from last December, when police found a gun, and ammunition belonging to the 38-year-old rapper, as he was traveling for the holidays in a private jet.
Court records obtained by the Miami-Herald state that Lil Wayne. who appeared to be high, admitted to police that he owned a gold-plated pistol which was later found during a search of the private jet he was flying in.
According to the Miami-Herald, federal agents say they also found suspected cocaine, heroin, marijuana, ecstasy, painkillers and 7 bottles of codeine, which is used to make “Lean” in the private jet. $25,938 in cash was also retrieved.
Lil Wayne wasn’t hit with any drug charges.
If Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. is convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
The rapper became a convicted felon when he was arrested back in 2007, after police found a gun in his tour bus.
