Man Accused Of Shooting Rapper Lil Tjay Denied Release For Medical Treatment

NEW JERSEY- A judge on Monday denied early release of the suspect accused of shooting rapper Lil Tjay for medical treatment.

Mohamed Konate appeared in front of Judge James Sattely to discuss his detention hearing and have a discussion with the Bergen County Jail’s medical director, Dr. Michael Hemsley, reports NorthJersey.com.

Hemsley said Konate did require additional medical appointments with doctors outside of the jail. Konate’s attorney, Michael Ashley, said Konate has a shattered kneecap and conjunctivitis, according to NorthJersey.com.

Konate was shot several times after the alleged shooting during the robbery.

Prosecutors said they will take Hemsley’s professional opinion, and the jail will facilitate medical treatment for Konate outside of the jail.

Due to Konate’s case being high-profiled, Konate will have to be escorted by two officers to go outside for his medical appointments. An officer would also be provided in case Konate should be required to stay overnight at the hospital.

Konate’s detention hearing is scheduled for Aug 8.

Konate is accused of shooting Bronx rapper Lil Tjay during an attempted robbery as he was with his two friends, Jeffrey Valdez and Antoine Boyd, in the shopping center parking lot on River Road.

Konate, 27, has been charged with attempted murder for shooting Lil Tjay and Boyd.

It’s unclear who shot Konate.

Lil Tjay is currently recovering from his injuries at a hospital.
