FLORIDA – A man was arrested after he attempted to kidnap a 4-year-old boy inside of a Walmart, deputies say.
Pintueles Hernandez was arrested at his home and charged with false imprisonment of a child 13 years old and under, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
On Dec. 29, deputies responded to the store for an attempted kidnapping, and were told a man had tried to take the child away from his family by grabbing the child and walking away with him, which was caught on security surveillance.
When police reviewed the footage, they saw Hernandez walking up to the boy shopping with his family, grabbing him by his wrist and forcing him to go walk with him as he allegedly told the boy “Let’s go”.
A family saw what Hernandez was doing and quickly intervened, police said.
They were then able to identify him using advanced technology.
