Man arrested after leaving baby in the woods

A man has been arrested in Montana, after authorities say he left a 5 month old baby in the woods because the baby was “very heavy”. Francis Carlton Crowley, 32, began crying in court on Tuesday, after hearing his accusations via videoconference according to The Associated Press. The suspect told authorities that he was involved in a car crash, and had left the baby because it was “very heavy”. The baby was found by a retired Police officer after hearing whimpering sounds and a trail of diapers in the woods. The man says he immediately wrapped the baby up, and held the baby until first responders came. Authorities say the baby spent 9 hours in the woods under debris and leaves. Crowley is facing charges of assault on a minor and criminal endangerment. Authorities do not know the relationship between the suspect and the baby, but reports say the mother has other children and lives camping. The baby was treated for being severely dehydrated and even threw up sticks on the way to the Hospital. Crowley’s bond is $50,000 and was arrested after police received a call about a man threatening people in a National Park. Photo cred: MISSOULA COUNTY JAIL VIA AP
