Man arrested for attempting to hold WWE wrestler Sonya Deville hostage

FLORIDA- A man has been arrested, and charged at the home of WWE wrestler Sonya Deville.

According to police, 24-year-old Phillip A. Thomas II was arrested on early Sunday for attempting to kidnap the wrestler, whose real name is Daria Berenato.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Thomas had been planning the kidnapping for about 8 months.

Police say that Thomas had parked his car at a near-by church, around midnight and walked to the home. Once there, he began staring inside of the windows on the patio.

When Berenato went to sleep, around 3 a.m., Thomas allegedly entered the home through a sliding door, which set off the alarm.

The alarm awoke Berenato, who ran out of the home with a friend, allegedly witnessing Thomas on her property. She then contacted police.

Thomas was still on the property when police arrived.

He was in possession of a knife, duct tape, plastic zip ties and mace. Thomas allegedly told police that he was planning on taking the homeowner hostage.

Thomas has been charged with aggravated stalking, attempted armed kidnapping armed burglary of a dwelling and criminal mischief.
