TEAXAS – A man is facing charges in the death of a 16-year-old cheerleader who was found dead inside her tub, police said.
Texas Rangers apprehended Rafael Govea a day after police released images of a person of interest wanted in connection to the death of Lizabeth Medina. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail and charged with capital murder.
Medina was found dead in a bathtub on Dec. 9 by her mother.
According to her aunt, Ana Medina, she was found wearing her pajamas, making them believe she was killed before she went to school.
The cheerleader who had recently moved to Texas with her family, was supposed to perform with her cheerleading squad at a Christmas parade, but never showed up.
Her cause of death hasn’t been made public.
