Man Beat 6-Year-Old Daughter, Buried Her Alive, Police

PENNSYVANIA- A man is facing felony charges for allegedly choking, beating and burying his daughter alive in his yard because he thought she was lying.

The girl luckily survived, telling authorities that her father, John Kraft, 50, would hit her with his belt and his arm, which has a metal rod from surgery, police said, KDKA reports.

She told police that her father buried her in a hole in the yard and left her there overnight.

“She was buried in a hole as punishment. She was thrown in a hole overnight. Her head was slammed off the wall and slammed off the floor. This is a barbaric situation,” Greene County District Attorney David Russo said, according to the outlet.

In September, social workers found bruises on the girl’s face and body, and just two weeks ago, police had interviewed the girl and her sibling who told them Kraft had allegedly buried the girl in a hole in the yard.

It’s unclear why social services didn’t remove the girl from the home in Sept. after seeing she had been abused.

Kraft has been charged with strangulation, aggravated assault, simple assault, false imprisonment of a minor, endangering the welfare of children and unlawful restraint of a minor.
