Man charged after setting his dog on fire inside park

LOS ANGELES- A man has been charged after setting his dog on fire and leaving it inside of a park, police say.

Brandon Smith, 24, was charged with felony animal cruelty charges after police say he was caught on surveillance video walking into a park on Aug. 22 and leaving without the dog, KNBC-TV reported on Wednesday.

The 7-year-old dog, named Hennesy, was found tied to a pole and badly burned. She did days later.

Smith allegedly used lighter fluid to set the dog on fire.
