CHICAGO- A man was arrested and has been charged after he allegedly yelled “Corona!” at a police officer and coughed in his face.
According to The Chicago Tribune, Anthony Ponzi, 21, was foaming out of his mouth when police officers responded to the scene of a car accident on Sunday.
According to Ponzi’s arrest warrant, he was “highly agitated”. Police say that he yelled “Corona, OK” and allegedly coughed directly into an officer’s face as he tried to check Ponzi for signs of impairment.
Records state that the officer “immediately felt particles of saliva/breath” on his face.
Ponzi appeared in court on Monday and was charged with battery, DUI and resisting arrest. He was also taken a local Hospital and tested for the Coronavirus, and tested negative.
A judge released him on his own recognizance because he has no history of a criminal record.
