ILLINOIS- A man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of a mother whose body was found in her home. The body of her 1-year-old daughter who later found in a pond.
Police say the suspect, Ahmeel Fowler, 26, had a “troubled relationship” with the victim, 21-year-old Jan’ya Murphy.
Murphy was reported missing after she failed to show up for work and her family couldn’t contact her on Monday.
Police found her dead after they conducted a welfare check. They believe Fowler strangled Murphy to death.
Her missing 1-year-old daughter had been taken in a maroon 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle was later found abandoned.
Two days later, the body of the missing toddler, Jaclyn “Angel” Dobbs, was found in a pond.
