Man Charged With Jordan Neely’s Death Released On Bail

NYC- The man seen on video killing Jordan Neely on a New York Subway train was charged with manslaughter after turning himself into police Friday.

Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran was charged with second-degree murder by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in Neely’s death.

Penny was arraigned at Manhattan Criminal Court before he was released on $100,000 cash bail and ordered to turn over his passport, according to NBC News.

He was also ordered not to leave the state.

Penny’s next court appearance is set for July 16.

Penny was caught on cellphone footage putting 30-year-old Neely, a subway performer, in a chokehold on the F train on May 1.

According to witnesses, Neely was behaving odd, and instead of calling 911, Penny “intervened” and killed Neely, who wasn’t harming anyone.

Penny faces up to ONLY 15 years in prison if found guilty.
