CLEVELAND- A man has been charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son after breaking his neck.
Ronald Hicks Jr., who was initially charged with felonious assault, has also been charged with murder as of Monday.
Police were called to a residence on June 11, after responding to a call about an unresponsive child. The toddler, identified as Ryan Mounts, was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Hicks told police that he was babysitting four children at the home, when he found Mounts on a bed with a plastic bag over his head. He told police that he attempted CPR on the boy but he was still unresponsive.
Doctors say the boys head and neck trauma are signs that he was abused.
