CALIFORNIA- A man has been formally charged with murder in the death of Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Clarence Avant’s wife, Jacqueline Avant.
Police say Aeriel Maynor, 29, shot and killed the 81-year-old philanthropist on Dec. 1 after breaking into her home.
Maynor is also facing charges of attempted murder for allegedly trying to shoot Avant’s security guard, who wasn’t injured, and two counts of residential burglary with a person present.
Maynor was arrested just hours after he allegedly killed Jacqueline. Police responded to a shooting and found Maynor in the backyard of a home during a botched robbery. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.
Maynor was on parole.
