Man charged with the kidnapping and murder of woman who went missing

31-year-old Ayoola A. Ajayi has been arrested and charged with the murder and kidnapping of 23-year-old MacKenzie Lueck who went went missing 11 days ago.

According to Salt Lake City authorities, Lueck was last seen with Ajayi at a park in Salt Lake City. She had took an Uber there.

Police questioned the Uber driver who said that Lueck didn’t seem to be in any distress. She had called Uber after returning from a family member’s funeral in California. The Uber dropped her off at 3 a.m in the park.

Police say that phone records show her activity stopped at around 3 a.m., and that Ajayi was the last person she was in communication with.

When authorities went to Ajayi’s home on June 27th to investigate, they found burned items in his backyard, which were items that belonged to the victim, along with human tissue that was burnt. The DNA from the tissue matched Lueck’s.

A neighbor also told the police that they had seen Ajayi burning stuff in his backyard.

Ajayi was known to rent rooms in his home for as low as $28 a night. One woman said that she had actually found camera’s inside of the room he was renting, which obviously is invading someone’s privacy is very disturbing.

When police interviewed Ajayi, he denied meeting the victim at the park, but admitted to texting her.

Ajayi has been charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping and the desecration of a body.
