JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH)- Benjamin Taylor, 33, was convicted on Tuesday by a jury of felony first-degree murder, death of a child by abuse and sexual abuse by a guardian in the death of 10-month-old Emmaleigh Barringer.
According to the West Virginia MetroNews, Emmaleigh’s mother came home to find Taylor, which was her then-boyfriend in the basement of their home with her daughter, who was bloody and unconscious. Her daughter later died from her injuries.
Taylor says that he had been drinking and didn’t remember what had happened.
A neighbor said that she had heard the baby screaming around midnight, but there was never a investigation into those claims.
Taylor was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
