FLORIDA- A father is dead after protecting his 1-year-old son from a gunman who entered a Florida restaurant on Wednesday, Miami police said.
The victim, Dustin Wakefield, 21, was on vacation from Colorado with family. They were eating at the La Cerveceria restaurant when the suspect walked through the door brandishing a gun.
Tamarius Blair Davis Jr., said it’s time to die, before pointing his gun at Wakefield’s 1-year-old son, according to a witness. Wakefield jumped in between Davis and his son, to protect him, before Davis shot him multiple times as he laid on the ground.
Davis was seen dancing over Wakefield’s body after fatally shooting him.

Davis fled the scene, but was arrested at a nearby alley.
He told investigators that he was “high on Mushrooms” which made him feel ’empowered”, reports FOX News.
Davis has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond at Miami-Dade County Jail.
Police also discovered video footage which shows Davis allegedly shooting at a man moments before he killed Wakefield.
NEW: We obtained video of Tamarius Davis shooting at a man (who was unharmed) near Ocean Drive. Minutes later, police say, he then shot and killed tourist Dustin Wakefield as he ate at a restaurant.
Davis admitted he "randomly" chose the men as targetshttps://t.co/CatUKQdXxy pic.twitter.com/I5pfFtX80y
