OREGON- A man was sentenced to more than two years in prison for spitting on a police officer and saying he had Covid-19.
Daniel Stubblefield, 36, pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment and menacing, The Bulletin reported.
Police were responding on March 23, to a call that Stubblefield was intoxicated and had assaulted someone.
The victim refused to press charges against Stubblefield, but he had two arrest warrants for two different cases and police were placing him under arrest.
Before Stubblefield was arrested, he told a police officer he had tested positive for Covid-19, before coughing loudly and spitting in the officer’s face 4 times.
The officer tested negative for the virus.
Stubblefields lawyer says his client suffers from mental illness.
