California- Leor Bergland, 30, appeared in San Francisco Superior Court on Friday, after he was arrested on Wednesday and was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Bergland became very upset when the 27-year-old victim, whose name is Gabriel Gaucin knocked his MAGA hat off in front of a skating rink.
Gaucin believed that when Bergland pulled his hand back, that he was going to punch him, but instead saw him holding an object he believed was an umbrella or nightstick, it wasn’t. What Bergland had attacked him with was a sword.
The victims hand was severed, and he was rushed to the hospital.
Gaucin had been drinking. The sword was found two days later, wrapped in a red plaid vest inside of a trash bin.
The defendant is denying what he’s being charged with. He didn’t enter a plea and his bail was set at $250,000.
It’s my opinion that ever since Donald Trump has been sworn in as president, his MAGA hat has been a symbol of hate for many and racism that has caused a spike in hate crimes, which can be proven.
