Man who attacked MSNBC reporter during live broadcast is arrested

Mississippi- A man who assaulted a reporter as he was reporting live on Hurricane Ida has been arrested by federal marshalls and charged.

Benjamin Eugene Dagley, 54, was arrested on Thursday, days after he randomly attacked NBC News correspondent Shaquille Brewster as he was reporting live from the Gulfport Monday.

An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday for Dagley on two counts of simple assault, disturbance of the peace and violating an emergency curfew in place.

Police say Dagley was also wanted on a warrant for violating his probation in Ohio.

Dagley was sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years of probation and ordered to undergo anger management in 2018 after he pleaded guilty to breaking into an electroplating company he had once owned and drilling holes into tanks that contained chemicals which sent an employee to a Hospital, reports Cleveland.com.

Dagley pulled up in a pickup truck as Brewster was in the middle of a live coverage of Hurricane Ida. Dagley began shouting “report it accurately!” as he rushed Brewster, who tried to get away him.

The live coverage was cut short by NBC and Dagley fled in his truck.

Brewster didn’t suffer any serious injuries or his crew.
