Man Who Bragged About NYC Chanel Heist Faces Up 40 Years In Prison

NYC- A man who was found guilty of robbing a NYC Chanel store of over $200,000 in stolen luxury bags could face up to 40 years in prison.

In February of 2021, Eric Spencer, 30, and three other suspects entered a Chanel store in SoHo and ripped handbags from store security cables.

When an armed store security guard approached Spencer, he allegedly reached in his waistband as if he had a handgun, and the guard backed off.

Afterwards, Spencer then went on social media and bragged about the heist, saying he “could open a small boutique”. He also sent text messages which confirmed his crime, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Spencer was convicted by a jury on Tuesday of one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and one count of robbery.

Spencer will be sentenced on Jun 30.
