CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.- A man who broke into rapper Eminem’s home in April of 2020 has been sentenced to five years probation and timed served.
Matthew Hughes, 28, was sentenced last week under a plea and sentencing deal with prosecutors, reports the Macomb Daily.
In August, Hughes pleaded no contest to a reduced charged of second-degree home invasion in exchange for dismissal of charges of first-degree home invasion, assault of a jail employee, malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000.
Eminem agreed with the sentence, but wasn’t present in court.
Eminem was awakened by the noise of Hughes breaking into his kitchen door window with a brick paver.
When Eminem confronted Hughes, he told him he “was there to kill him”. The rapper was able to get Hughes outside of his home, where he was met by security guards who held him until police arrived.
