Meek Mill Apologizes For Secretly Filming Music Video In Ghana’s Presidential Palace

Rapper Meek Mill hasn’t been giving himself a break this new year so far.

First, he decides to into a scuffle with professional boxer Gary Russell Jr. ringside at the Gervonta Davis and Hector Luis Garcia fight Saturday.

Now, he’s receiving even more backlash, for filming an explicit music video in Ghana’s presidential place, known as Jubilee House, after recently visiting Ghana to perform at the Afro Nation concert.

Meek was invited by the President Nana Akufo-Addo to Jubilee, where the Philly rapper and his crew were photographed and even recorded footage for the video.

But when Meek decided to upload the footage to his Instagram Sunday, he offended critics in the West Africa nation.

Meek can be seen performing parts of his song throughout the palace, behind the presidential lectern and in formal meeting rooms, which prompted criticism from Ghanaian officials who accused the rapper of desecrating Jubilee Housse.

Meek, whose real name is Rihmeek Williams, apologized to Ghana, saying he was trying to display his art and he “didn’t know much about the lifestyle” there.

“To the people of Ghana no video I drop is ever meant to disrespect the people of Ghana …. The fastest way to make connection is thru music and I wanted to do that with displaying art … im in my 30’s from America and didn’t know much about the lifestyle here,” he tweeted.
