NEW JERSEY- A woman has been charged with murder after police say she drugged and killed her two daughters.
Retta Renee Cruse, 35, was charged on Friday with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her two daughters, 9-year-old Aleyah McIntrye and 4-year-old Royal McIntyre, reports the Arizona Republic.
The girls were discovered in their home on Sept. 8 with no apparent signs of trauma, but records obtained by the newspaper state that Cruse used medications to “sedate and overdose” her daughters.
Records obtained by the newspaper said that a bottle with pills with an unknown liquid was found near the girls’ mouths, along with a bottle of oxycodone in the room.
Cruse was found alive, naked with multiple self-inflicted wounds and police found a knife nearby.
The 9-year-old’s father, who had custody of her, became concerned after he was unable to contact Cruse, who had her for 2 weeks, according to the Arizona Republic.
