Mother arrested for allegedly slamming her baby on the floor; abuse didn’t stop there

COBB COUNTY, Atlanta: A mother has been arrested after police say that she allegedly slammed her 1-year-old son on her garage floor, after lifting him up over his head and punched him repeatedly.

The abuse didn’t stop there.

Police also said that she squeezed her son, and twisted his arm.

According to an arrest warrant that was obtained on Wednesday by AJC.com, Melina Rebecca Whyte, 26, allegedly said “I am going to kill that baby”, while she punched her son on his side, on Friday.

This all took place in front of her other child, who’s 7 years of age.

The beating left her son with injuries that included a skull fracture, two lacerations to his liver, a contusion and a hematoma.

His current health status has not been released.

Whyte was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault with intent to murder, first-degree cruelty to children and second-degree to children and aggravated battery.

She’s being held in county jail with no bond.
