HOUSTON- 2-year-old Maliyah Bass’s mother, and her boyfriend have been charged in her death.
Houston police announced on Tuesday that Sahara Ervin, 20, and Travion Thompson, 21, were charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence for their alleged involvement in the death of Bass.
Authorities haven’t released any details on how Bass was killed, but say that Ervin and Thompson did injure her in late August, before dumping her body in a storm drain.
Maliyah’s body was discovered floating near a bayou on August 23, by a jogger. She had been reported missing the day before.
KHOU reports that Ervin told police she had left Maliyah alone for a few minutes in their apartment complex, and when she returned, her daughter had vanished.
Ervin bond has been set at $175,000, and Thompson on $150,000 bond.
