Mother charged after baby dies from drug-laced breast milk

A mother from Pennsylvania has been charged with criminal homicide, after police say her baby died from drug-laced milk. Authorities say Samantha Jones, 30 was charged for the death of her 11 week old son. According to reports, Jones told police that she was only taking methadone, but autopsy reports show the baby died from methadone, amphetamine and methamphetamine which was transmitted from her breast milk to the baby. Jones told police that she woke up on April 2nd around 3am to her baby crying and attempted to breastfeed the baby because she didn’t want to get baby formula from downstairs. Reports continue to state the baby began to cry at around 6am and Jones told the baby’s father to prepare a bottle of milk. When the father left to work, Jones reportedly fed the baby and then went back to sleeping. She told authorities that when she awoke at around 7 am, the baby was in distress. She told police she performed CPR and then called 911. The baby was pronounced dead an hour later at the Hospital. Bail was set for Jones at $3 million dollars.
