MICHIGAN- A mother allegedly slit her two children’s throats with a knife on New Year’s Day, police say.
Sara Vae Boles, 36, was arrested after police found her kneeling over her 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter in the family’s bathroom, reports the Detroit News.
Police say both children had lacerations to their throats and a knife was found in the tub.
Authorities say they made the horrifying discovery Saturday after they were at the home conducting a welfare check.
Both children were rushed to a near-by hospital and placed in critical condition.
Boles was arrested at the scene after a struggle with police.
She was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of first-degree child abuse and one count of resisting and obstructing.
