Mother charged for allegedly leaving kids in hot room, 5-year-old found dead

LAS VEGAS- A mother has been charged with murder in the death of her 5-year-old child who she allegedly left in a hot room.

Kemaya Taylor, 23, is facing a murder charge and two counts of child abuse or neglect.

Police say they arrived at Taylor’s residence around 7 p.m. on Monday and found 3 children locked inside of an extremely hot room with no air conditioner, reports KLAS-TV.

The 2-year-old toddler was found alive, and the 5-year-old was dead.

Authorities say that the 5-year-old died from heat-related causes. It was 107 degrees on Monday in Vegas.

The 2-year-old was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Taylor didn’t appear in court on Thursday, but has a preliminary hearing on July 15.
