MINNESOTA- A mother has been charged with the 2018 murder of her 8-year-old son.
A grand jury indicted Tasha Tennin, 36, with first-degree murder while committing child abuse and unintentional second-degree murder while committing a felony last week according to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
Police say that Tennin called them on Feb. 1st, 2018, to report that her 8-year-old son was unresponsive. When paramedics, and police arrived at Tennin’s residence, they found her son’s body “ice cold” inside of her garage.
The boy was later pronounced dead.
According to a press release, Tennin told police that her son had been sick, to the point where he wasn’t eating, after coming home from school. When police contacted his school, school employees told them that the boy was fine and was even jumping on a trampoline that day.
The medical examiner’s office found that the boy had multiple lesions, and scars on the boys neck which showed indicative of physical abuse.
Months later, Tennin’s other children, who were placed in foster care, shared details about their brother’s murder to their foster families. One of the children said the day the boy died, he had got into trouble and Tennin told him to sit in the garage, where he stayed overnight.
Temperatures were so cold, that police say the boys urine was frozen, when they found his body dressed in his pajamas inside of the garage.
Tennin beat her son, and then left him to die in the garage with freezing temperatures.
