N.C. Officer Charged After Allegedly Selling Drugs From Patrol Car

NORTH CAROLINA- A police officer has been arrested after authorities say he was allegedly selling cocaine out of his marked patrol car while on duty and wearing a uniform.

33-year-old Keven Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday and charged with distributing cocaine and possession of a firearm “in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime”, according to Michael Easly, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

“This complaint alleges that an on-duty Raleigh Police Department officer, in his police cruiser, with his gun, dealt drugs,”, Easly said at a news conference Thursday.

An investigation began last November when authorities were tipped off.

Authorities arranged for a confidential source to meet with Rodriguez. The source gave the officer $2,600 in cash and Rodriguez allegedly handed over 56 grams of cocaine, according to a complaint report, reports PEOPLE.

If convicted, Rodriguez could face a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.
