NEW ORLEANS- A man charged with the murder of rapper Gee Money has accepted a plea deal, according to a report.
Deandre Demarcus Fields, 28, who goes by the rap name “NBA Lil Pap”, an associate of rapper NBA YoungBoy, has entered into a plea deal after being charged with murder in the death of Gee Money, according to The Advocate.
Fields worked with prosecutors, and his murder charge has now been reduced to an accessory charge, which means he will only serve five years in prison.
East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said that as a result of the murder, issues of violence and a fallout from gang activity, has made it difficult for his office to fully prosecute NBA Lil Pap, The Advocate reports.
This also has to do with the fact that the key witness in Gee Money’s murder, Donovan Cortez Jefferson, has since been arrested on his own murder charges.
Jefferson told prosecutors that he witnessed NBA Lil Pap shoot and kill Gee Money. Two years after his claim, he was charged with murder in the death of 41-year-old man.
Gee Money was shot and killed in September of 2017, while outside of his recording studio.
