New Delay In YNW Melly’s Double Murder Trial As Prosecutors Appeal Ruling On Documentary

FLORIDA – Rapper YNW Melly’s trial has been delayed AGAIN after prosecutors appealed a judge’s decision to keep a 20-minute documentary from being presented to the jury.

Earlier this month, Broward Circuit Judge John J. Murphy ruled that prosecutors will not be allowed to show footage from a promotional documentary produced by the rapper, whose real name is Jamell Demons, the Sun Sentinel reports.

The video ends with a postscript that claims Melly, and his two friends he’s accused of killing, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams, were victims of a drive-by shooting in Miami, but they were killed in Miramar, Florida, the outlet reports.

Melly’s defense is that he wasn’t with Williams and Thomas the night they were killed.

Prosecutors argue that Melly shot his two best friends from inside of the Jeep they were all inside of, which was allegedly driven by Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry, who has also been charged in connection to the shooting.

It’s unclear when the trial will begin.

Melly is accused of killing Williams and Thomas in Oct. 2018. His first trial ended in a hung jury.
