NYC Mother Charged With Murder After Drowning 3 Kids In Coney Island

BROOKLYN- A mother who drowned her three children and left their bodies at Coney Island has been charged with murder.

Erin Merdy, 30, was arrested Wednesday, and is now facing three counts each of second-degree murder, murder with depraved indifference, and murder of a victim younger than 11 years old.

A relative of Merdy called police and told them they believed she was going to kill her children.

Police found the bodies of her three children, Zachary Merdy, 7, Lilana Merdy, 4, and 3-month-old Oliver Bondarev in the early morning of Monday.

Merdy was found about 90 minutes later by police, drenched in water and barefoot.

Family members say Merdy was suffering from mental illness.
