BROOKLYN, NYC – A straphanger who shot a man on a Brooklyn subway Thursday won’t be charged, prosecutors said Friday.
A 36-year-old man allegedly walked through an emergency exit at Nostrand Ave. without paying and got on an A train around 4:30 p.m. Several minutes later, the man can be seen on cellphone footage getting into an argument with a 32-year-old man.
The argument between the two turned physical, with straphangers, (one with a baby) ducking for cover, screaming and fleeing for safety to the other side of the train.
The men began fighting when a woman who was accompanying the 32-year-old man is seen stabbing the 36-year-old man several times on the right side of his ribs.
The fight stopped briefly, as the 36-year-old realized he was shot, and that’s when he allegedly pulled a gun out and was disarmed by the 32-year-old man, who fired four times, shooting the man in his face.
The man is in critical condition.
Prosecutors said the 32-year-old man won’t be charged because he was acting in self-defense.
Prosecutors are reportedly considering charging the woman who stabbed the aggressor.
The shooting comes as Mayor Adams and Gov. Hochul flooded the subway trains with 750 National Guard troops and more NYPD officers in an attempt to stop crimes in the subway, but that is obliviously is not working.
