BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA- A man and a woman arrested in the killing of Bay Area rapper Lil Yase won’t be charged, according to a spokesperson for the District’s Attorney’s Office.
Angel Butler and Jovante Williams, both 28, were arrested in April for their connection to the rapper’s death.
Williams nor Butler were charged, as prosecutors declined to file charges against them, after reviewing evidence days after their arrests, reports MercuryNews.
Investigators believed that Lil Yase, whose real name is Mark Antonyyo Jr., and Williams were both dating Butler and that played a role in the motive for Antonyyo’s killing, according to the MercuryNews.
Antonyyo was shot and killed as he was standing outside of his car on the morning of Nov. 28. Police said they believed that he had left his home hours before to meet with Butler.
