Parents Charged After 2-Year-Old Son Is Fatally Shot By 3-Year-Old Brother

KENTUCKY – The parents of a 2-year-old boy who was shot and killed by his 3-year-old brother have been charged, according to police.

Selena Farrell, 23, and Tashun Adams, 21, were arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter. Farrell is also facing charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, a probation violation and abandonment of a minor, according to Kenton police.

The pair’s 3-year-old son got a hold of a gun of an unsecured loaded gun and fatally shot his 2-year-old brother, Khalil Adams, inside of their home on Jan. 22.

According to reports, Adams called 911 after the toddler was shot and he was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police later found the handgun hidden in a “some bar-b-que on the stove.”

The owner of the gun is Farrell, who purchased the handgun from a federally licensed dealer. She fled after the shooting and was located at a motel after authorities tracked her due to a probation violation.

A third suspect identified as a 20-year-old was also charged in connection to the boy’s death.
