53-year-old Vittorio Caruso from Long Island is the 3rd person to die after vacationing in the Dominican Republic in just ONE week, and the deaths don’t stop there.
Caruso’s family says he suffered respiratory distress, after drinking something while at the Boca Chica Resort in Santo Domingo where he was staying.
He died on Monday. He was planning on returning last Thursday.
Caruso is now the third victim in one month to die in the D.R..
Joseph Allen, 55, from N.J. died while staying at a hotel, and 53-year-old Leyla Cox from Staten Island was also found dead in her hotel room.
It’s being said that these victims were possibly given bootleg liquor, which can cause death.
Authorities on the island say that they are investigating but don’t believe these deaths were due to foul play. Dominican Republic’s Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia says that despite all of these deaths, it’s safe to vacation there..
I think not. In fact, I think those who are looking for a beautiful island to vacation should go to Puerto Rico, where there haven’t been reported incidents like those in the D.R..
Not only will you have an amazing time, but your money will help the island that is still rebuilding itself after hurricane Maria.
