MISSOURI- Police have filed charges against a man accused of allegedly killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son.
Authorities began investigating Emmanuel Ware’s Dec. 10 death after his mother told police that he was hit by a car.
According to court docs obtained by KTVI, Timothy Robinson, 33, was taking care of the toddler while the boy’s mother was out on a job interview. Emmanuel’s mother returned home to find her son unconscious lying on the floor with bruises on his body and head injuries.
The boy’s mother told police that her boyfriend had allegedly told her that he had taken her son to a gas station to purchase cigarettes.
Robinson said the boy was struck by a car that fled the scene while at the gas station. An autopsy proved otherwise. It revealed that the toddler’s injuries weren’t consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Emmanuel had a “tear in the right lobe of his liver”, which caused him internal bleeding, court docs state.
Police also reviewed surveillance footage from the gas station, and it showed that the toddler was not hit by a car.
Robinson has been in jail since Dec. 13 on a robbery charge.
Police charged him with second-degree felony murder and abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death.
