Police Fatally Shoot Woman Holding Walmart Employee Hostage (Video)

MISSISSIPPI- A woman was shot and killed by police after she held a Walart employee hostage Wednesday, police said.

Corluna McGinister, 21, was shot by police inside of the store.

In a video that has now gone viral, McGinister can be seen pleading to speak with a news anchor, as she held a gun in one hand while holding onto to the frightened female employee with her other hand.

Police ordered McGinister to release the hostage, but she refused, insisting that she wasn’t going to hurt anyone.

“I’m not trying to hurt anybody,” she said. “Give me a news anchor.”

As she continued to plead to speak to a news anchor, police repeatedly told her to drop her gun, and she refused.

Police shot and killed her, but nobody else was hurt.

Richland Police Chief Nick McLendon said the incident was “devastating” for all involved, WAPT reports.

The Wal-Mart re-opened on Thursday.

There is no known motive.
