PHILADELPHIA- Violent protests have continued for the 2nd day in Philadelphia after police killed a black man armed with a knife.
Protests began outside of a Philadelphia police precinct, just hours after 27-year-old Walter Wallace Jr. was fatally shot on Monday because he was waving a knife.
Wallace’s death was captured on cellphone footage, which spread like wildfire on social media.
In the video, police officer’s can be seen approaching Wallace, with their guns drawn, ordering him to drop his gun. His mother can even be seen intervening, but to avail, as her son continued to walk towards police.
Police wasted no time in shooting Wallace, in front of his mother, who ran over to her son as his body laid on the ground.
Wallace later died from gunshot wounds to his chest, and shoulder. Police fired at least seven shots each.
There have been violent protests, that have resulted in over 20 officers being injured, with one being struck by a pick-up truck and dozens of arrests. Several officers were also caught on cellphone footage beating a woman with batons, punching and kicking her as she laid on the ground.

The White House has said that they’re “prepared to deploy” federal resources.
