Police Officer Charged After Punching And Slamming Teen’s Face On Wall

A police officer has been charged after punching a 19-year-old male black teenager before slamming his face into a wall.

According to Warren police, Rodriguez punched the teenager before slamming him into a wall, taking him to the ground, punching him several more times and banging his head his head against the floor, according to reports.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage in the Warren police jail processing room.

The victim, who was charged with carjacking and felony firearm, was transported to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Two Warren police officers who were present when the incident took place reported the assault to their shift supervisor. Within several hours after the incident, Rodriguez was suspended without pay and an internal investigation was launched.

Rodriguez was charged in 337th District Court on June 20 with assault and public officer willful neglect of duty. His bond was set at $5,000.
