SOUTH CAROLINA- Prosecutors want rapper Kodak Black transported to state custody for his sexual assault charge after he had his federal sentence for gun law violations commuted by former president Donald Trump, Courthouse News has reported.
The Florida rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was among 70 people who were granted clemency on Tuesday by Trump. Rapper Lil Wayne was included.
Kapri has been serving a 46-month sentence in a federal prison for falsely stating on paperwork related to a gun purchase that he had no pending felony cases against him.
Florence County Solicitor Ed Clements told Courthouse News that he has a detainer on file against Kapri, and he plans on bringing him to South Carolina to face the sexual charge. The rapper is not protected from his case in South Carolina because presidential clemency applies to federal, and not state charges.
Trump didn’t mention pardoning the rapper on the sexual assault charges.
Kapri allegedly forced himself on a female inside of a hotel room back in February of 2016, biting the woman’s breast and neck as the victim told him to “stop” several times.
